Books Books BOOKS
HI! I wanted to post some of my fave books that I've read in this past couple of months and would HIGHLY recommend!! Here are just of few of them:
Anonymous
By Alicia Britt Chole
This book is one of my favorites because it addresses an issue that I believe every millennial struggles with: The want to be seen. In this book the author shows how the years you spent unseen prepare you for the seasons where you are "seen" or "acknowledged". She walks us through Jesus’ experience in the wilderness in great detail to help us understand first of all how Jesus’ temptations in the desert relate to temptations that we feel today and 2nd, to show how His responses in His 3 years of ministry reveal how he prepared in the 30 years he spent “unseen.” One big question that really rocked me and I constantly check myself with was this: Would I be satisfied and content if God was the only one to see me? Is He enough for me??

Unashamed
By Christine Caine
WOW this book. Confession: I’ve literally cried quite a few times reading this book (happy and sad and all emotions. Idk. I’m emotional LOL). This book was a game changer for me- not only is Christine Caine a phenomenal speaker and a woman I look up to, she’s an incredible writer! Her ability to be vulnerable in this book and share her anxieties and her life story and how she didn’t let her circumstances direct her life or attitude is so so inspiring! In this book Caine presents the phrase: we were never meant to feel shame. She goes on to explain what shame is in a relatable way. This helped me so much because there were feelings that I didn’t recognize as shame and it opened up a whole new perspective on my thought life and why I act and think the way I do. And through that it revealed a whole new depth to God’s grace and His love for me as a child of God. One thing that Caine says in this book that really stood out to me was something super simple and relatable: God honors the move. The first step you take towards healing, towards freedom. He honors that. And shame won’t go away after one hit, it swings back and it’s a daily battle sometimes, but as you trust God and work towards that freedom your swings back become stronger and less forced. Anyways… I can go on and on about this book but this would turn really long so…just take my word for it, go read it.

Without Rival
By Lisa Bevere
THIS BOOK. wow. Lisa is an amazing amazing communicator and an amazing amazing writer! I didn’t know what I was getting into when I started to read this book but let’s just say every chapter paved the way for a new revelation. In this book, Lisa writes about rivalry between us and other people, between the genders, and a rival even between love and fear. She encourages us in the book that we aren't loved equally by God as we are often told, but we are loved UNIQUELY (MIND BLOWN). This was a revelation in itself to me and it was revealed in just the first couple of pages! Among this is a bunch of other good one-liners, and topics that will leave you thinking about them for days, ultimately expanding your perspective and helping you understand yourself and others, helping you love more fearlessly! Anyways… really good book. Read it.
